Craft
Acting is the craft of telling stories on stage. The actors retell the story of play under the direction of an outside eye who is called the director. Much confusion and nonsense surrounds the craft of acting, particularly around the topics of character and emotion. The on-going debate on whether the actor should feel or not feel the emotion for real. This is debated in Diderot's 'Paradoxe sur le Commedien, William Archer's Marks or Faces, Stanislavski's An Actor Prepares and David Mamet's True and False - amongst many, many many books.
Its just a work
As in my view, An Acting is the work in the theatre, television, film etc where an actor tells a story by portraying a character by speaking or singing.
good definition of acting
Great, its a good definition of acting. But youngsters think that if they have good muscular body and height, they are fit for acting or modeling etc. you are right its all depends upon hard-work and learning step by step.
Being an Indian and having grown up watching Amitabh Bachhan's films on big screen. It was his humility despite all the adulation. This characteristic in itself makes him more endearing as an actor, and arguably the greatest indian actor ever.
